Lagos Suspends Building Approvals Along Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road

The Lagos State Government has temporarily suspended all planning and building approvals along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road.

This was announced on Monday in Alausa by Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development.

According to him, the suspension is necessary because the new coastal road is affecting existing development plans for the area. These include the recently completed Ode-Omi Action Area Plan and the ongoing Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan and Lekki Comprehensive Master Plan.

“The project has had a major impact on our development plans, and we need time to review and realign everything properly,” Dr. Olumide said.

He added that to avoid further disruption, all planning approvals in the affected areas will be paused until further notice.

The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has been instructed to enforce this suspension.

Dr. Olumide reassured the public that the state government remains committed to creating a well-organized, livable, inclusive, and sustainable environment, and will continue to work towards maximizing the long-term benefits of the inter-state Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
