Governor Sanwo-Olu Congratulates Dr. Rabiu Olowo on 40th Birthday and Chieftaincy Title



Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, on his 40th birthday.

He also celebrated Dr. Olowo on receiving the chieftaincy title of "Baa Siro of Iruland", recently conferred on him by Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, the Oniru of Iruland.

In a message personally signed and shared on Saturday, the Governor praised Dr. Olowo—who was the former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance—for his outstanding contributions to public finance, including promoting transparency, digital innovation, and strong financial management.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said:

“On behalf of the Government and people of Lagos State, I warmly congratulate you on your 40th birthday and your new traditional title as the Baa Siro of Iruland.

“This is not just a personal milestone but a moment of pride for everyone who has worked with you.

“As Finance Commissioner during my first term, your leadership helped raise the bar in public financial management. Your work set a benchmark not just in Lagos, but across Nigeria.

“Now leading the Financial Reporting Council, you continue to show excellence and integrity. It’s no surprise your community chose to honour you with such a respected title.

“As you begin this new chapter, I pray that God blesses you with long life, good health, and more wisdom to continue your service to our state and country.”

Lagos Plastic Ban 2025: What’s In and What’s Out

  Dear Lagosians, A few months ago, you may have noticed that takeout food packs and some plastic items were banned in Lagos. This decision was made by the Lagos State Government in 2024 . If you’ve been wondering why this happened and how far the ban goes , here’s what you need to know: The Lagos State Government has explained that the ban on single-use plastics , starting July 1, 2025 , will NOT include plastic bottles (PET), water sachets, or nylon bags that are thicker than 40 microns . This clarification was made by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab , on Tuesday. He said there was confusion and misinformation suggesting the ban would cover all types of single-use plastics.
