Lagos State Strengthens Business Environment with High-Level Technical Engagement
In a strategic move to significantly enhance the business landscape, the Lagos State Government, through its Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI), recently concluded a pivotal two-day technical meeting involving 17 key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
As the lead entity driving reforms in the state, the OTCI is proactively preparing for the upcoming World Bank assessment, fostering strong collaboration among stakeholders to create a more business-friendly environment.
Speaking at the sessions, Mrs. Toyin Ajous-Ademuyiwa, Director-General of the OTCI, highlighted the strategic importance of the meetings.
“These sessions reflect our unwavering commitment to transforming Lagos’ business environment, elevating the state’s Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) rankings, and stimulating sustainable economic growth,” she stated.
She further emphasised that the reform efforts are not solely aimed at securing funding, but are focused on building enduring systems that will support the state’s long-term operational efficiency and innovation.
The meetings served as a dynamic platform to:
✅ Strengthen collaboration and coordination among participating agencies
✅ Ensure accurate and transparent data reporting
✅ Identify gaps and challenges in the current system
✅ Share best practices to enhance performance
The sessions also concentrated on developing comprehensive action plans, establishing effective monitoring and evaluation frameworks, building trust and engagement across stakeholders, and ensuring meticulous preparation for the upcoming World Bank ratings. Agencies were tasked with submitting their progress reports promptly.
Mr. Bolaji Onimole, Head of Development Partner at the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, urged the MDAs to align their reports with the Business Environment Reform Action Plan (BERAP).
“BERAP serves as a strategic tool that drives accountability, improves communication, and fosters continuous improvement in the Ease of Doing Business. It enables agencies to not only streamline reporting but also create a collaborative space for impactful reforms,” he explained.
The OTCI expressed optimism that the collective efforts from these discussions will pave the way for a more efficient, transparent, and attractive business environment in Lagos State.
