Lagos State Elevates Citizens' Mediation Centre to Bureau Status to Enhance Peace and Justice.

In a landmark move to strengthen peace-building and expand access to justice, the Lagos State Government has announced the elevation of the Citizens' Mediation Centre (CMC) from a department to a full-fledged Bureau.

This transformative initiative, led by the Office of Transformation, Creativity, and Innovation (OTCI), is designed to boost the CMC's authority, resources, and operational efficiency in delivering conflict resolution services to residents.

During a recent engagement with the CMC leadership, Mrs. Toyin Anjous Ademuyiwa, Director-General of OTCI, expressed the government's enthusiasm for this development.

“This elevation underscores our commitment to enhancing service delivery, fostering peace, and ensuring every Lagosian has access to effective conflict resolution mechanisms,” she said.

She emphasized that the transition to Bureau status aims to achieve key objectives, including enhanced recognition, increased resources and funding, and improved accessibility and efficiency of services.

Mrs. Aderinsola Olarewaju, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the soon-to-be Bureau, shared her optimism:

“This transformation can only bring positive outcomes for the people of Lagos State.”

The Lagos State Government believes that upgrading the CMC to a Bureau will significantly strengthen its capacity to resolve disputes, ultimately contributing to a more peaceful and harmonious society.
