Lagos State Deepens Collaboration on Wealth Creation and Resilience Planning

The Honourable Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, welcomed a delegation from the Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO), led by Chief Resilience Officer, Dr. Folayinka Dania, during a courtesy visit to the Ministry on Wednesday.

The visit was part of ongoing efforts to enhance inter-agency collaboration and align the Ministry’s strategic programmes with the overarching goals of the revised Lagos Resilience Strategy (LRS 2.0).

This initiative forms a key component of the State Government’s commitment to fostering institutional synergy around sustainable development, economic empowerment, and resilience planning.

During the meeting held in the Ministry's Conference Room, Hon. Ajigbotafe reaffirmed the Ministry’s crucial role in driving sustainable wealth creation and employment opportunities through targeted policies, innovative initiatives, and capacity-building programmes.

“Our Ministry has made significant strides in supporting Lagosians with impactful interventions. We are fully prepared to collaborate with LASRO to ensure our initiatives are seamlessly integrated into the upcoming Resilience Strategy,” he stated.

In her remarks, Dr. Folayinka Dania explained that LASRO is engaging key stakeholders across the state to gather data and institutional insights to shape Lagos Resilience Strategy 2.0.

“The revised strategy will capture present realities, enhance policy responsiveness, and strengthen Lagos State’s ability to withstand socio-economic and environmental challenges,” she highlighted.

The Lagos State Resilience Office plays a pivotal role in coordinating resilience-building efforts across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), with a mandate to reduce vulnerabilities to shocks and stresses while advancing long-term sustainability and social equity.

Also present at the meeting were Esv. Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, and Ms. Feyisayo Alayande, Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF). Both expressed strong support for the collaboration, emphasising the importance of integrating ongoing wealth creation programmes into the evolving Lagos Resilience Strategy.
