Government Enforces New Building Site Hours Across Lagos state
The Lagos State Government has set new working hours for construction sites across the state. From now on, building work is only allowed between 7 am and 6 pm, Monday to Saturday.
This was announced on Thursday by Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development.
Dr. Olumide explained that this rule applies to everyone involved in building construction. Government agencies will be monitoring sites to make sure everyone follows the rule. However, if a company needs to work outside these hours, they can apply formally and their request will be considered.
The main reasons for this new rule are to protect the environment, prevent building collapses, and promote the health and well-being of people living nearby.
Residents are encouraged to report any construction sites that break this rule. And that's the new Lagos Standard.
